The Triphase DPM sensor series encompasses a network-enabled, modular system for high-speed, real-time distributed AC and DC current and voltage measurements. It is suited for automated measurement and processing of low-voltage electric power. Triphase DPM combines industrial-grade sensors with high-end data acquisition and signal processing.

System Architecture

The DPM architecture is outlined in the figure below. Current and voltage measurements are captured by the DPM voltage and current sensor modules. Analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion occurs locally on the sensor module using delta-sigma converters. Sensor modules transmit the raw delta-sigma data streams to a DPM data hub via point-to-point connections. The data hub is a communication module implementing the necessary digital filters for extracting 16 bit measurement values out of the delta-sigma stream and performs time stamping. Multiple data hubs connect in a daisy chain manner via a high-speed, real-time optical backbone to a real-time target (RTT) where they are available for further processing. This backbone network also handles data hub synchronization.

Triphase DPM is fully compatible with the Triphase PMx power modules. Both can be controlled from the same RTT. Moreover, the DPM system is highly scalable. A single RTT can handle multiple strings of measurements. Measurement processing can be covered by multiple RTTs working in parallel.

DPM Sensor Modules

Triphase DPM current and voltage sensor modules both capture the signal and convert it to the digital domain. Early, delta-sigma based, A/D conversion greatly improves signal quality and immunity to environment noise. DPM sensor modules build on proven sensor technologies from manufacturers as LEM and Isabellenhütte. They connect over copper (flat cable) with a DPM data hub.
